Overview

The Associate Sales Representative (ASR) is an entry level sales position that combines the duties of the full-time Outside Sales Representative (OSR) role with training and inside sales responsibilities.  The ASR will have an assigned territory, typically smaller than a regular OSR assignment, but will also work and train closely with the VP of Sales, Inside Sales Manager and the OSRs to learn processes, products, customer relationship development, selling techniques, territory management skills and any other skills needed to transition into a full OSR.

 

Once transitioned to the OSR position you will be responsible for cultivating key relationships with customers and prospective customers, including, drywall sub-contractors, project engineers and architects which will result in the profitable sale of products and services offered by the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Train to ultimately demonstrate a credible level of product knowledge of all products offered by the company, and of all competing products in the industry.
  • Initially perform Inside Sales duties for their assigned territory
  • Train on the technical aspects of our products and will promote those products with Contractors, Engineers and Architects.
  • Develop plans to entertain customers, including, dining, golf, sporting events etc in your assigned geography.
  • Work with VP of Sales to develop strategies for assigned markets.
  • The ASR will be required to travel throughout their assigned territory to call on established and prospective customers to create demand for products and/or solicit orders. This activity includes personal visits and contact by phone and email.  Activity levels will be determined by your VP of Sales.
  • Must work closely with the Inside Sales Representative and VP Sales to ensure that every account is contacted routinely, and to hone the sales strategy by reviewing quotes, product mix, and strategic position with the customer.
  • Complete and submit, as required and within expected deadlines, all paperwork, including, but not limited to, sales activity/expense reports and monthly forecasts.
  • Perform other duties as they are assigned.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to also successfully multitask and utilize organizational skills.
  • Maintain an energetic, confident, competitive and enthusiastic attitude at all times.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.
  • Track all major projects in their territory and maintain a log of these projects. They will also run regular job tracking meetings with distribution sales teams.
  • Responsible for investigating and documenting, product complaints in their area.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years previous experience selling, outside or inside, construction or other related products. Preference for experience selling to contractors, distributors, architects and engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with CRM
