We are currently seeking a Project Engineer for our Design Group in McDonough, GA. This position requires knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques. Light gauge steel design experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria for the use of light gauge steel products.
  • Ability to detail and engineer curtainwall, load bearing and roofing for light gauge steel products.
  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
  • Develop probable cost estimates for project.
  • Analyzes specifications and performance requirements to ensure that designs meet specifications.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, requirements, and related technical data pertaining to design.
  • Determines feasibility of designing new structures or modifying existing structures considering costs, available space, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Provides technical information concerning erection techniques, materials, properties, and advantages and limitations that affect long-range engineering planning.
  • Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified structures.
  • Studies of engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in industry.
  • May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
  • May inspect existing projects and recommend repair and replacement of defective members or rebuilding of entire structure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Preferred zero - two years of experience with  knowledge in civil and/or structural engineering, obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education; or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCad.  Familiar with other engineering software programs desired.
